The Bomber Boys Wrestling Team began post-season action on Saturday, traveling to Searcy to compete in the 5A North Regional Tournament.
The Bombers had 8 wrestlers place in the top 3 in their weights and earn a bid to the 5A State Tournament next Friday and Saturday at the University of Arkansas-Little Rock. As a team, the Bombers finished 2nd overall in the Region, trailing only Van Buren. Three additional wrestlers may receive a bid to compete at the State Tournament, as they finished 5th and are the alternate from the North Region.
Individually, the Bombers crowned two champions among six finalists. Mason Shimmel won the 144 pound weight class, going 3-0 on the day with 2 falls and a technical fall. Calin Frounfelter captured the Heavyweight crown with 4 wins, all by way of fall.
Runners-up for Mountain Home were Seth King, who finished 2nd in the 126 pound weight class going 3-1 with two technical falls and a decision. Mak Smith was the runner-up at 175 pounds, going 3-1 with two falls and a technical fall. Stephen Sturges finished second at 190 pounds, going 2-1 with 2 falls, and Eason Recktenwald was the
runner-up at 215 pounds, going 2-1 with a fall and a decision victory.
Other State Qualifiers for the Bombers were Kayden Looney, who secured his bid by finishing third at 120 pounds, going 3-1 with a fall, technical fall, and a decision, and Corbin Lefevers, who placed third at 165 pounds, going 3-1 with a Major Decision and two victories by decision.
Other place winners for Mountain Home were Nate Craig, who placed fifth after going 3-2 on the day at 106 pounds. John Tolleson placed fifth after also going 3-2 at 132 pounds. Ethan Milucci also placed fifth, going 2-2 at 150 pounds. These three wrestlers are the alternates for next weekends State Tournament and would receive a bid
if one of the top four is unable to compete.
The Bombers close out the 2025-26 season at the University of Arkansas-Little Rock on Friday and Saturday when they compete in the 5A State Tournament.
