Conference races tighten across area as key matchups tip off

Several important conference basketball games are on the schedule Tuesday night across north central Arkansas, with multiple teams battling for position as the regular season nears its end.

At Bergman, the Panthers will host Melbourne in a pivotal 3A-2 Conference matchup. On the boys side, Bergman (27-8) and Melbourne (19-7) enter the night tied for second place in the conference at 10-3, making the game a key factor in determining postseason seeding. The girls matchup is equally significant, with both teams also tied for second place at 10-3 in league play.

Viola will host Shirley in another conference contest. Both teams look to gain momentum late in the season as they prepare for district play.

Yellville-Summit returns home to face Kingston, while Norfork hosts Izard County in additional area action Tuesday night.

Lead Hill will also be at home as the Tigers welcome Ozark Mountain, rounding out a full slate of conference games across the region.
