
Mountain Home NJROTC opened the 2026 National Air Rifle New Shooter League season with a win, defeating Nevada AFJROTC of Nevada, Missouri, by a score of 965.8 to 581.3 in Week 1 competition.
Mountain Home, coached by Jason Williams, was led by top shooter Aldyn Buterbaugh with a score of 258.0. Additional scoring came from Kalem Warford, Bryan Williams and Kayla Brown. The victory gives Mountain Home a 1-0 record and the No. 12 ranking in the league after the opening week.
Nevada AFJROTC, coached by Bryan Eckart, was led by Zaydon Lower with a score of 165.7. Samantha Shepherd, Paxtyn Drake and Nathaniel Woods also contributed scoring for the team, which begins the season 0-1.
All teams in the league feature first-year competitors. The season includes eight matches over a 10-week schedule with randomly drawn matchups.
With just eight matches on the schedule, each victory could be critical in the league standings. Mountain Home NJROTC will face Slidell NJROTC in Week 2 competition.
