Mountain Home girls among area teams receiving votes in state poll

Mountain Home and several area programs continue to gain statewide recognition in the latest Arkansas Sports Media Girls’ High School Basketball Poll released for the week ending Feb. 7.

Mountain Home checks in at No. 4 in Class 5A with an 18-6 record, remaining firmly among the top teams in its classification. The Lady Bombers also received votes in the Overall Top 10, narrowly missing inclusion there.

In Class 3A, the area is well represented near the top. Mountain View sits atop the Class 3A rankings at No. 1 with a 25-3 record, while Bergman and Melbourne are also ranked. Bergman moved up to No. 4 at 27-8, and Melbourne follows at No. 5 with a 25-4 mark, highlighting the strength of the 3A-2 Conference.

Other local programs are receiving notice as well. Norfork and Viola both picked up votes in Class 1A, showing continued competitiveness late in the season.

The Arkansas Sports Media Poll is voted on weekly by sportswriters and broadcasters from across the state and includes an Overall Top 10 along with rankings for Classes 6A through 1A.
