Mountain Home splits at Siloam

The Mountain Home Bombers and Lady Bombers were back on the hardwood on Tuesday night. Mountain Home made the trip to the Oklahoma border to face Siloam Springs.

The night began with the Lady Bombers taking the court. In the previous meeting the Lady Bombers blew out Siloam Springs 68-39. Mountain Home would get off to a slow start and actually trail the Panthers of Siloam Springs 16-15 after the first stanza. Mountain Home would pick up the pace and outscore Siloam Springs 20-9 in the second quarter to take a 35-24 lead into the halftime break. The Lady Bombers would put the clamps on the Lady Panthers and outscore them 20-4 in the 3rd quarter to take a 55-28 lead into the final quarter. Mountain Home would get the game to a 30-plus point game and invoke the Arkansas Activities Association Sportsmanship rule and the clock would run the remainder of the game.

Mountain Home was led in scoring by Jayla Yonkers with 21 points. Livi Fosness chipped in 15 points and Brooklynn Mitchell added 12 points.

Mountain Home improves to 18-6 on the season and 9-1 in 5A-west play and officially clinches a berth into the Class 5A state tournament in a few weeks.

In other 5A-west action Alma upset Greenwood 74-69, Farmington breezed past Harrison 66-39, and Van Buren squeaked by Russellville 46-42.




Mountain Home’s boys would take the court next. In the last meeting Mountain Home defeated Siloam Springs 61-46. In a back-and-forth first quarter Siloam would get out to an early 12-9 lead after one quarter. Siloam Springs would catch fire from three and outscore Mountain Home 21-9 in the quarter to take a 30-21 lead into the halftime break. The hot shooting would continue as Siloam would outscore Mountain Home by 7 to take a 51-35 lead into the final quarter. The Bombers would mount one last charge but would get no closer than 13 as Siloam would cruise to the 76-52 victory.

Mountain Home was led in scoring by Rhett Gilbert with 20 points. Jackson Corp added 10 points of his own.

Mountain Home falls to 14-12 and 6-4 in the 5A-west.

In other boys action Farmington took it easy on Harrison defeating the Goblins 87-45, Alma squeaked out a 68-59 win against Greenwood, and Van Buren defeated Russellville 58-43.

Mountain Home’s boys and girls will be back in action on Friday in The Hangar against Van Buren for sweetheart royalty night.
