Mountain Home Sweeps Van Buren, Fosness Scores 1000th Point

It was basketball time in The Hangar once again as the Bombers welcomed Van Buren to The Hangar for sweetheart royalty night.The night began with the Lady Bombers taking the court. In their previous matchup roughly a month ago, the Lady Bombers defeated Van Buren 54-23. Mountain Home would begin the night by pitching a shutout in the first quarter taking an 8-0 lead into the first quarter break. Van Buren would get the lid off the basket and actually outscore Mountain Home 14-8 in the 2nd quarter but would still trail 16-14 at halftime. Mountain Home would still be in a dogfight as they would head to the final stanza with a 31-23 lead. Mountain Home would lock up the Pointers, holding them to only two points in the final 8 minutes of action to polish off the 44-25 victory

Mountain Home was led in scoring by Brooklynn Mitchell with 14 points. Livi Fosness, on her final free throw of the night, surpassed the 1000 point mark in her Lady Bomber career (joining Jayla Yonkers, Brooklynn Mitchell.) Fosness added 13 and Jayla Yonkers added 11.

Mountain Home improves to 19-6 overall and 10-1 in 5A-west play.

In other girls action in the west Farmington defeated Greenwood 69-42, Harrison ran past Alma 54-29, and Siloam Springs beat Russellville 45-31.

On the boys side Mountain Home looked to avenge a 13 point loss to the Pointers earlier in the season. The first quarter saw the Pointers come out firing to take a 16-12 lead after one quarter. Mountain Home’s Bailor Tate would funnel in 11 of his 21 points in the second quarter to help the Bombers take a 30-23 lead into the halftime break. In a back and forth 3rd quarter Mountain Home would extend their lead by 2 and cruise to the 4th quarter with a 48-39 lead. Mountain Home would not lay off the gas pedal and beat the Pointers 19-9 in the final stanza to finish off a 67-48 victory.

Mountain Home was led in scoring by Bailor Tate with 21 points. Jackson Corp added 14 and Rhett Gilbert added 12.

Mountain Home improves to 15-12 and 7-4 in 5A-west play.

In other 5A-west boys action Alma snuck by Harrison 59-51, Farmington breezed by Greenwood 93-58, and Siloam defeated Russellville 74-52.

Mountain Home will be off until next Friday when they hit the road to take on Alma.
