Lady Bombers finish third at state with five All-State wrestlers

Mountain Home turned in a strong performance at the 1A-5A Girls State Wrestling Tournament, finishing in a tie for third place with Lake Hamilton at the two-day event, trailing only Searcy and Van Buren in a field of 29 teams.

The Lady Bombers produced five All-State performers, highlighted by three state runner-up finishes. Bailee Schaffner placed second at 100 pounds, falling in a close 6-5 decision to three-time state champion Farah Crossno of Greenwood. Jurzie Guiltner also finished runner-up at 115 pounds, dropping a sudden-victory overtime match to Searcy’s Tianti Whitfield after regulation ended tied at 4-4. Ellie Miller earned second place at 120 pounds, pushing defending champion Eva Garcia of Van Buren deep into the third period before suffering her only loss of the tournament.

Brooklynn Stuteville (125 pounds) and Olivia McCoy (135 pounds) each secured fourth-place finishes to earn All-State honors, recording two wins apiece during the tournament.

Additional contributions came from Abby Swartz at 155 pounds and Abry Campos in the heavyweight division, who each recorded a victory to help Mountain Home secure the third-place team finish.
