
The St. Louis Cardinals have claimed right-handed pitcher Zak Kent off waivers from the Texas Rangers and added him to their 40-man roster, the club announced. Infielder Bryan Ramos was designated for assignment to clear space.
Kent, 27, returns to the Cardinals organization after previously being claimed by St. Louis on Dec. 5, 2025, before Texas claimed him off waivers on Jan. 9.
The 6-foot-3, 205-pound right-hander made his Major League debut with Cleveland in 2025, posting a 1-0 record with a 4.58 ERA and 16 strikeouts over 17? innings across 12 appearances.
Originally selected by the Rangers in the 2019 MLB Draft out of Virginia Military Institute, Kent owns a 13-16 record with a 4.13 ERA in 117 career minor league appearances, including 63 starts.
Kent spent the 2025 season primarily in a relief role at Triple-A Columbus, where he went 2-3 with a 2.84 ERA and two saves in 34 appearances. He debuted in the majors on April 23, 2025, against the New York Yankees and earned his first big-league win later that season against Texas.
The Henrico, Virginia, native has allowed just one home run to 76 batters faced in the majors and held right-handed hitters to a .552 OPS.
