Authorities are investigating a fatal train and pedestrian accident that occurred Sunday afternoon in Jonesboro.
According to a release from the Jonesboro Police Department, officers and emergency personnel responded around 4:30 p.m. after dispatch received a report that a train had struck a pedestrian near Ellis Lane and Prospect Road.
Police confirmed the incident resulted in a fatality. The identity of the victim has not yet been released.
Officials said the train involved in the accident remained stopped in the area.
No additional information was immediately available Monday morning.
