A nearly 30-year tradition continues Tuesday as St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church hosts its annual Mardi Gras fundraiser to benefit the church’s food pantry. The Fat Tuesday celebration begins at 6 p.m. and is open to all in the community.

Organizer Frannie Landry was a recent guest on KTLO’s Talk of the Town and she gives details about the event.

Landry say the event’s primary purpose is supporting the church’s food pantry, which serves families across Baxter County. The pantry is open every Wednesday from 9 to noon and does not turn anyone away.

With Arkansas being ranked as the most food insecure state in the U.S., Landry discusses some of the area’s residents the pantry has been able to assist.

Proceeds from ticket sales, donations and auction items will help fund pantry operations and continue services to area residents in need. Tickets are $30 and may be reserved by calling the church office at 870-425-3560.
