The Baxter County Library Foundation has reached its fundraising goal for the Library Hill Trail following a major donation from Kyle and Lynn McAlister.

Foundation officials said the McAlisters’ gift pushed the campaign to its target, representing about 20% of the project’s total cost. Their total support exceeded $10,000, including a final contribution that completed the fundraising effort.

The planned trail will be a multi-use walking and biking path designed to improve access to the Baxter County Library while promoting wellness, safety and community connection. It will loop around the library campus and link to nearby trail systems, creating a space for recreation and gathering.

“We’ve been long-time supporters of the library, and we really like the idea of connecting a visit to the Library with movement and time outdoors,” the McAlisters said in a statement. “The Library Hill Trail is something everyone in the community can use, and we’re glad to help make it happen.”

With fundraising complete, the project is expected to move forward as planned. Construction will begin once final coordination with the Arkansas Department of Transportation is finished.

Foundation leaders thanked the McAlisters and other donors, calling the trail a shared investment in public space and lifelong learning.
