Arkansas State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine is moving closer to welcoming its first class as construction continues and the program awaits final accreditation approval.
Faculty and administrative staff have been hired, and the college completed its comprehensive accreditation site visit in January. Officials say the program has responded to comments from the site team and is now awaiting review by the Council of Education. The next step in the process is the issuance of a letter of reasonable assurance, which would allow the college to begin recruiting and admitting students.
Construction crews are installing exterior glass on the facility, while classrooms and office spaces continue to take shape inside. Heating and air conditioning systems are also being installed throughout the building.
The project remains on schedule for completion in May or June. Lab areas are expected to be finished ahead of office spaces to allow time for equipment installation in preparation for a planned fall 2026 start.
In addition, construction is beginning on barns at the Animal Science Farm located on a hilltop at the campus site.
