The Mountain Home City Council will hold a public hearing Thursday afternoon on a proposed bond issue to fund major improvements to the city’s water distribution system.The hearing is scheduled for 4:50 in the council chambers of the Municipal Building at 720 Hickory Street. City officials will consider issuing up to $20 million in Water and Sewer Revenue Improvement Bonds, Series 2026, to finance the acquisition, construction and equipping of additions and upgrades to the system. The proposal will be presented by Steve Hill.
Immediately following the hearing, or at 5, the council will convene its regular meeting at the same location. The agenda includes routine items such as approval of minutes, committee reports, bank reconciliations and announcements.
Among the new business items, the council will consider an ordinance amending the city’s zoning regulations to change certain property from Residential R-1 to Residential R-1A, presented by Ted Sanders.
Council members will also vote on an ordinance authorizing the issuance and sale of the proposed bonds and related agreements needed to complete the financing for water system improvements.
Additional items include consideration of a contract with Garver Engineering for design and related services for the Lake Norfork water intake project.
The council will also receive an update from the Baxter Day Service Center from Paul Neal before concluding with public comments and adjournment.
Both the public hearing and the regular meeting are open to the public.
