Quarterfinal play wrapped up Wednesday at the 3A-2 District Basketball Tournament, setting the stage for Friday’s semifinal matchups.
In girls action, fifth-seed Valley Springs edged fourth-seed Salem 38-35 to advance, while third-seed Bergman cruised past sixth-seed Cave City 65-35.
On the boys side, fifth-seed Cave City upset host Mountain View 44-42, and third-seed Bergman defeated seventh-seed Valley Springs 73-55 to move on.
Friday’s semifinal schedule begins with top-seed Mountain View facing fifth-seed Valley Springs in the girls bracket at 4. In boys play, top-seed Flippin will meet fifth-seed Cave City at 5:15.
The late games feature second-seed Melbourne against third-seed Bergman in the girls semifinal at 6:30, followed by the same matchup in the boys bracket at 7:45.
Winners will advance to the district championship games.
