The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission has announced a new three-year partnership with the Electric Cooperatives of Arkansas aimed at expanding outdoor recreation safety education across the state.

Under the agreement, the Electric Cooperatives of Arkansas will serve as the commission’s official outdoor safety education partner, working alongside the Arkansas Game and Fish Foundation to support safety initiatives beginning in the 2026-27 school year.

The partnership will encompass the commission’s existing hunter education and boater education programs, as well as a new ATV safety education program set to launch later this year. One highlight of the effort is the introduction of an Arkansas Outdoor Safety Graduation Cord, which high school seniors can wear at graduation after completing certification in all three programs.

The Electric Cooperatives of Arkansas will also serve as a founding partner of the Annual Generation Conservation Summit and as presenting sponsor of the Safety Zone, a hands-on display area focused on boating and hunting safety.

AGFC Director Doug Schoenrock said the partnership carries important goals for keeping Arkansans safe in the outdoors.

“This partnership emphasizes the importance of safety in the field so everyone can return from their trips outdoors with great memories,” Schoenrock said.
