In a meeting lasting just over two hours on Thursday evening the Cotter Public School Board had a busy agenda and approved a new virtual academy, renewed principals contracts and renewed insurance.Superintendent Jayme Jones recommended, and the Board unanimously approved renewing the contract of Airl Cheek as Elementary Principal, Federal Programs Coordinator, and 5th/6th Grade Basketball Coach. The Board also unanimously approved renewing Jarrod Jefferson’s contract as High School Principal.
The Board also approved the following faculty changes as submitted in the Personnel Report. Current 7th/8th Grade Language Arts teacher Keri Raycraft was hired as Director of the Cotter Virtual Academy, a new academic option being implemented by the school system. Brent Williams was hired as Elementary Counselor and the board recognized the retirement of current Elementary Counselor Beth Foster, who has been with the district for over 20 years.
In other business, the Board unanimously approved the renewal of Workers’ Compensation Insurance with ASBA Workers’ Compensation Trust at the cost of $9,630.00.
