Arkansas State baseball took the weekend series at Slayton Family Field at Tomlinson Stadium Sunday, with Dylan Farley and Kole Turner combining to blank Eastern Illinois over the final eight innings in an 9-2 Red Wolf victory.

Eastern Illinois struck first, loading the bases in the opening frame and scoring two on an infield single. Arkansas State responded quickly, with Ashton Quiller leading off with a double and Lane Walton following with a two-run home run to even the score at two.

From that point, Farley was virtually untouchable. After recording his final two outs of the first inning, the right-hander retired 15 consecutive batters, a streak that carried all the way into the sixth. He finished with six innings pitched, three hits, two runs allowed, and five strikeouts to improve to 2-0 on the season.

The Red Wolves put the game away in the second inning, loading the bases and scoring four runs on an RBI walk from Patrick Engslov, a run-scoring single, and a two-RBI blooper to shallow center from Aidan Houseworth to go up 6-2. Arkansas State added two more on a Cole Manuel double and a Walton triple before a wild pitch in a later inning allowed Joey McLaughlin III to score the ninth and final run.

Turner came on in relief and tossed three scoreless innings, allowing three hits and adding a strikeout to earn his second save of the season.

Arkansas State improves to 5-2 heading into Sun Belt Conference play.
