The Baxter County Airport at Midway has been approved for funding to build seven new hangars, with a state agency covering nearly 87 percent of the cost. The airport received $632,973 from the Arkansas Department of Commerce – Division of Aeronautics. The airport’s cost will be $96,062 towards the total cost of the project which is $729,036.

The expansion will include an 80×60 foot clear span hangar and a six-bay open T-hangar, providing space for a range of aircraft and helping accommodate a steady rise in based planes and aviation activity.

The 80×60 clear span hangar will offer flexible space capable of housing larger aircraft, while the six-bay T-hangar will expand capacity for individual aircraft owners, a critical addition as demand for hangar space continues to rise. Airport leaders report strong interest from pilots and aviation enthusiasts eager to base their aircraft in Baxter County.

Construction timelines will be announced as the project moves into the next phase.
