It was a landmark weekend for area basketball, with district championships decided across multiple classifications.

Flippin’s senior boys claimed the 3A-2 District Tournament championship in dominant fashion, topping Bergman 67-49 at Mount Judea — an 18-point victory made even more impressive considering the Bobcats were without one of their top scorers, who left the previous night’s game with a broken ankle. Aidan Hodges led the way with 19 points and 10 rebounds, Blayne Thompson added 17 points and 7 rebounds, and Truett Lindsey chipped in 12. Flippin will advance to regional play, where they are set to face Rivercrest. For Bergman, Hayden Jones and Zeb Adkins each finished with 12 points, with Jones grabbing 7 rebounds. The Panthers’ senior boys finished as tournament runner-up.

On the girls side of the 3A-2 Tournament, Bergman captured the district championship with a 66-53 win over Mountain View, leading by double digits throughout the entire second half. Brinley Collins paced the Lady Panthers with 22 points, Kyna See added 14, and Blair Castle contributed 10. Mountain View was led by Addy Davis with 21 points and Erin Akins with 18.

In the 1A-2 District Tournament held at Concord, the host Concord boys edged Calico Rock 41-33 to claim the district title, ending the Tigers’ postseason run. On the girls side, West Side Greers Ferry defeated Viola 63-47, with the Lady Longhorns unable to overcome a double-digit deficit against the top seed.

In Class 1A-1, Lead Hill’s senior boys secured their first district title since 1999, edging Jasper 58-55 in a thriller. Logan Henson drilled a go-ahead three-pointer with 32.4 seconds left to lift the Tigers, who shot just 2-of-24 from three and 12-of-21 from the free throw line but found a way to win when it mattered most. Coda Lemon led Lead Hill with 18 points, Dawson Lively added 15 points and 10 assists, and Hunter Rogers contributed 12. The Tigers host St. Paul in regional play Wednesday night at 8:30.

All programs now turn their attention to regional play as the postseason continues.
