A former Arkansas Department of Human Services investigator has pleaded guilty to possessing child sex abuse videos and will spend five years in prison.
Alejandro Hernandez was arrested October 30, 2025, and charged with three counts of distributing, possessing, or viewing material depicting sexually explicit conduct involving a child. He initially pleaded not guilty but accepted a plea deal on February 12, 2026, receiving a five-year prison sentence with an additional five-year suspended sentence. Hernandez has since registered as a sex offender.
Investigators began looking into Hernandez after receiving a cyber tip that he had uploaded at least five videos to social media showing young children being sexually abused by adults. Authorities found child sex abuse material in the trash folder of his phone, and Hernandez later admitted to owning and operating the social media account involved.
Hernandez, who served as an investigator with the DHS Division of Child Services, was fired following his arrest.
A DHS spokesperson released a statement calling the allegations reprehensible, saying the behavior was a direct contradiction of the mission Hernandez was supposed to uphold.
