The Mountain Home High School NJROTC has been selected to provide color guard for the State of Arkansas at America’s National Independence Day Parade in Washington D.C. as part of the nation’s 250th anniversary.

The once in a lifetime opportunity will include a 4 day trip to the capital where cadets will march the parade on the 4th of July, take in multiple educational opportunities and attend the National Symphony concert on the Capital Lawn. Battallion Commanding Officer Dylan Prins says the cadets from Mountain Home were the only group selected from Arkansas to represent the state.

They will visit the National 9/11 Pentagon Memorial, participate in a wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery, explore the Smithsonian, including the National Air and Space Museum and tour the National Archives, home of the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution.

Prins commented on the feelings he and the other cadets share knowing they have the opportunity to represent their local community at a historic national event.
