
Manager Bonnie Sumner, who has been with the organization for five years and in the manager role for two, says the pantry serves Bull Shoals, Flippin, Fairview, Lakeview, Midway and parts of Oakland. The pantry is funded entirely by donations and community fundraisers. Sumner added there has been a surge of volunteers over the past year.

The pantry also partners with area retailers for donated food and participates in a federal commodities program that provides five items monthly. Sumner describes the process of offering assistance to area residents in need.

The facility’s air conditioning system must be replaced before the onset of hot weather, prompting organizers to schedule a donation-only breakfast fundraiser. The event is set for April 18 from 9 to 11, with proceeds going toward the cost of the new unit.
