Arkansas State made history Tuesday afternoon at Baum-Walker Stadium, handing No. 6 Arkansas a 12-4 defeat that marked the first time the Red Wolves have ever beaten the Razorbacks in program history.Arkansas State wasted no time taking control, erupting for six runs in the top of the second inning, capped by a grand slam, to seize a lead the Red Wolves would never relinquish. The two teams combined for seven home runs on a gusty afternoon, with Arkansas State blasting five and Arkansas connecting on two solo shots.

True freshman Peyton Lee started for Arkansas and allowed all six runs over two innings before giving way to the bullpen. Tate McGuire, Cooper Dossett, and Luke Cornelison each allowed at least one run in relief, while Ethan McElvain provided two clean frames with two strikeouts.

Offensively, Maika Niu and Zack Stewart provided the lone bright spots for the Razorbacks, each going 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI. Niu led off the bottom of the first with his second homer of the season, and Stewart added his second of the year — and 46th of his collegiate career — in the fourth inning.

Arkansas falls to 6-2 on the season. The series continues Wednesday at Baum-Walker Stadium.
