James DeCremer, Steele Eaves, and Parker Coil combined for 13 strikeouts and a one-hit shutout as sixth-ranked Arkansas edged Arkansas State 1-0 Wednesday afternoon at Baum-Walker Stadium.
The three pitchers held the Red Wolves to a single hit allowed by DeCremer in his 3.2 innings of work as the Razorbacks recorded their second one-hit shutout in three games. Colin Fisher threw the first against Xavier on February 22nd.
DeCremer, a transfer from Oregon State, struck out three and did not allow a run. Eaves followed with a career-long 2.2 scoreless innings and a career-high four strikeouts to earn his team-leading third win of the season. Coil closed it out with 2.2 innings and a career-high six strikeouts for the save.
The lone run of the game came in the bottom of the first inning on a one-out RBI single by Kuhio Aloy, which proved to be all the offense Arkansas needed. Maika Niu and Reese Robinett each finished with two hits, while Nolan Souza drew two walks and stole two bases.
Arkansas improves to 7-2 on the season while Arkansas State falls to 6-3. The Razorbacks continue their 18-game homestand Friday against UT Arlington, with first pitch set for 3 p.m. on SEC Network+.
