Tax statements for the 2025 taxes, due in 2026, are being mailed out and Baxter County Collector Teresa Smith says this year residents will notice key changes on their statement. Paper statements are scheduled to go out on Thursday, Feb. 26, while e-statements were sent earlier. Residents signed up for electronic delivery should check their inboxes and contact the office if they haven’t received one.
Smith noted the office switched software providers to improve convenience and online features. The new system makes payments easier, including a long-requested feature by her.
The tax books are open now through Oct. 15 for current payments. Arkansas law requires personal property taxes to be paid before real estate. Partial payments apply first to personal property until fully paid, then to real estate.
Smith says there is another change, the office now allows combined payments for current and delinquent taxes.
The county collector urged residents to review them carefully and contact the office with any questions or discrepancies. She asked for patience during busy periods and encouraged calls or visits to the office across from the courthouse. To contact their office call 870-425-8300 Monday through Friday from 8-4:30. The office also provides additional information and updates on their Facebook page.
