Bombers Clinch Playoff Spot, Lady Bombers Run Past Greenwood

For the final time in the 2025-26 season it was basketball time in The Hangar on Friday. Mountain Home welcomed the Greenwood Bulldogs to The Hangar to close out the regular season.

The night began with the Lady Bombers sprinting out of the gate to take a 20-6 lead after one quarter. The second quarter was much of the same as the Lady Bombers nearly got to a 30 point lead in the first half. They would have to settle for a 40-16 lead heading into the halftime break. Mountain Home would outscore the Bulldogs 21-16 in the third quarter and push the game to a running clock in the fourth quarter with a 63-32 lead. One-by-one Coach Dell Leonard subbed out his 7 seniors, Brooklynn Mitchell, Taye Chairs, Deanna Human, Lauren Rauls, Jayla Yonkers, Livi Fosness, and Laken Anderson, to a raucous applause. Mountain Home would finish off the 68-39 victory.

The Lady Bombers were led, in a dominating performance, by Livi Fosness who had 34 points and 22 rebounds. Jayla Yonkers added 13 points of her own.

Mountain Home improves to 22-7 on the year and finishes 12-2 in the 5A-west. The Lady Bombers will enter the 5A state tournament as the 2 seed. They will take on Valley View at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.

After the senior night ceremony, honoring 37 seniors,the Bomber boys took the court. Mountain Home needed a win, along with some help from Alma or Farmington, to make its way into the state tournament.

The Bombers answered the bell with a 50-35 victory Friday night in The Hangar. Mountain Home got off to a slow start trailing 9-4 halfway through the first quarter but would end the quarter with an 8-0 run to take a 12-9 lead after one quarter. The second quarter would see the Bulldogs and Bombers play to a 16-16 tie as the Bombers would take a 28-25 lead into the locker room at halftime. Mountain Home caught fire in the third quarter outscoring the Bulldogs by 8 to take extend their lead to 46-35 heading into the final quarter. Mountain Home would hold the Bulldogs to only 5 points in the final quarter to polish off the 55-40 victory.

Mountain Home was led in scoring by Rhett Gilbert with 20 points. Seniors Jackson Corp and Drew Haney both chipped in 9 points apiece.

With the win, to go along with Farmington’s win over Van Buren, and Alma’s win over Siloam Springs, the Bombers lept from 5th place to 3rd place. Mountain Home will enter the 5A state tournament as the #3 seed and will take on Greene County Tech, for a 4th time this season, on Thursday at 2:30 p.m.

In other 5A-west action Russellville defeated Harrison 49-48.
