Arkansas State Red Wolves rolled to a 10-0, seven-inning run-rule victory over Arkansas–Pine Bluff Golden Lions on Saturday at Tomlinson Stadium–Slayton Family Field, playing in front of a program-record crowd of 1,228.

The attendance mark surpassed the previous record of 1,143 set in 2014 against Ole Miss. On the field, the Red Wolves were dominant from start to finish. Starter Jack Nelson was sharp, working six scoreless innings while allowing just three hits, striking out six and improving to 2-0 on the season.

After a scoreless start, A-State broke through in the third inning when Lane Walton launched a three-run homer to right-center, his seventh of the season. The Red Wolves added three more runs in the fourth, highlighted by an RBI double from Ashton Quiller and aggressive baserunning that produced another run on a throwing error.

Arkansas State continued to pile on in the fifth as Joey McLaughlin III delivered an RBI single and Cole Manuel followed with a two-run double to make it 9-0. McLaughlin added another RBI single in the sixth to cap the scoring.

James Trimble pitched a clean seventh inning in his season debut to close out the run-rule win.

Arkansas State will look to complete the series sweep Sunday at 1 against Pine Bluff.
