The former president of the Mountain Home Hurricane Swim Team charged with theft of property after slightly more than $11,500 in team funds turned up missing appeared in Baxter County Circuit Court/Criminal Division Monday.
Twenty-four-year-old Olivia Norris who lists an address along Bucher Street in Mountain Home entered a not guilty plea to the charges against her.
She told the court she is in the process of retaining an attorney and was ordered to reappear May 11.
Norris was elected president of the organization in March last year. Upon taking office, she was provided access to the organization’s bank account and the debit card associated with the account to conduct authorized business for the team.
The swim season wrapped up in July 2025 and board members attempted to conduct a regularly scheduled monthly meeting in August.
Norris is reported not to have planned or attended any meetings and did not respond to multiple requests from board members regarding the organization’s finances.
In November, the board members convened a meeting without Norris being present. The board reviewed the organization’s bank records and identified “multiple transactions” that appeared inconsistent with what should have been legitimate and authorized expenditures for a non-profit organization.
The board members said there were no receipts, invoices, or any other supporting documentation for the questionable transactions.
When Norris was questioned regarding the expenditures, she provided documentation that board members determined to be “altered and fraudulent.” The documents provided did not give a proper accounting for the transactions or show that they represented legitimate expenses of the club.
The unaccounted-for funds were withdrawn or spent while Norris had exclusive access to the organization’s bank account and the debit card attached to the account and the transactions had all been made without board approval.
The board members have requested that, in addition to criminal charges being filed, they want the court to order Norris to repay the missing money.
