
Mountain Home’s boys and girls swim teams each finished sixth overall at the state tournament Saturday in Benton while recording some of their fastest times of the season.
The Bombers and Lady Bombers combined for 13 personal-best performances across 13 events, including several major time drops. Tyler Edwards improved his previous time by more than six seconds.
Freshman Callie Kohler led the way for Mountain Home, capturing two individual state championships in the 50 freestyle and the 100 backstroke. Kohler won the 100 backstroke by nearly seven seconds.
Senior Benny Vetter earned two silver medals in the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle. He finished behind Parker Rodgers of Batesville, who set multiple state records. The 50 freestyle race was decided by just 0.84 seconds.
Senior Ajay Reiss also reached the podium in the 50 freestyle with a lifetime-best time of 23.91 seconds. Senior Peeka Traver recorded a career-best performance to win silver in the 100 freestyle and also posted her fastest time in the 100 breaststroke, improving by 1.83 seconds.
Mountain Home’s girls relay teams placed third in both the 200 medley relay and the 200 freestyle relay with season-best times.
Overall, Mountain Home swimmers reached the podium 13 times, earning two gold medals, three silver medals, two bronze medals and six additional top-seven finishes.
