A warm and dry February saw only two days of rain, ending the month at less than half the normal average precipitation. The month began on a cold note, with Feb. 1 marking the coldest day, recording a high of 25 degrees and a low of 6. A warming trend followed, and within a week daytime highs reached the mid 60s while overnight lows remained above freezing. The warmest day of the month was Feb. 20 when a high of 76 degrees was recorded at KTLO, Classic Hits and The Boot, tying a record previously set in 1981. The average high temperature for February is 48 degrees with an average low of 28. This year, February recorded an average monthly high of 57 degrees and an average low of 31.

Average February rainfall in Mountain Home is approximately 3.2 inches, but only 1.19 inches was recorded at KTLO during the month. Rain fell on just two consecutive days on Feb. 14 and 15, accounting for the monthly total. No snowfall was recorded, compared with 4.5 inches measured in February 2025.

Dry conditions prompted several area counties to implement burn bans, while the Arkansas Forestry Division placed much of North Central Arkansas in the high wildfire danger category. Prescribed burns also produced periods of heavy smoke across the region during the final days of the month as crews conducted burns in Baxter, Stone and Marion counties.

The month ended unseasonably warm, with the final day again reaching 76 degrees, tying for the warmest temperature recorded during February as residents looked to March for much needed rainfall.
