Stone County Sheriff Long wins 2nd term; Hudspeth and Sullivan face runoff for County Judge

Stone County voters reelected Sheriff Long Tuesday night while the County Judge’s race will be decided in a runoff on March 31st.Incumbent Sheriff Brandon Long won a second term carrying 75 percent of the vote with 2,257 votes cast. His challenger Dennis Simons secured 734 votes.

Tim Hudspeth and Daryl Sullivan will face of at the end of the month in the runoff for County Judge. Hudspeth led the race with 1,364 votes (46%), Sullivan had 956 votes (32%) and Jim Nesbit had 650 votes (22%).

Two Justice of the Peace races were also on the ballot. In District 4, incumbent Jason Kocher defeated Robert Huckleberry with 213 votes to 127. In the district race 5 incumbent Ronald Clark lost to challenger Tammy Knapp. Knapp secured 191 votes to Clark’s 154.

Keenan Glenn secured a term as Constable for the Northeast District with 168 votes to Matthew Miles Wilborn’s 95 votes.
