
Nationally, the average price of gasoline also increased, rising 5.6 cents per gallon during the past week to $2.94. The increase marks the fourth consecutive week the national average has climbed.
Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, said markets are expected to react to recent U.S.-Iran attacks, which have increased geopolitical risk premiums despite no immediate disruption in supply.
De Haan indicated broader instability, particularly involving key transit routes, could add uncertainty to energy markets. He also noted gasoline prices may continue to face upward pressure in the coming weeks as seasonal trends persist and markets respond to the evolving geopolitical situation.
Analysts say the national average could reach the $3 per gallon mark for the first time this year.
