
Arkansas State Police troopers helped celebrate a milestone birthday this week for a woman who has lived more than a century.Troop J Troopers Candice Pike and Tucker Rhodes visited the home of Mrs. Betty Kaufman Thines on Tuesday to help her begin celebrating her birthday a day early.
Mrs. Thines turned 108 years old on March 4.
Born on March 4, 1918, she has lived a life filled with work and adventure across several states. Over the years, Thines held 12 different jobs in five states.
Among her many roles, she served as Deputy County Clerk in Conway County and worked as a stenographer and secretary for the Arkansas House of Representatives during the 1953-55 and 1959 legislative sessions.
She also co-owned Thines Supermarket in Morrilton with her late husband of 31 years, Henry Thines.
Family members say she is widely known as an Arkansas treasure and remains beloved by her many nieces, nephews and friends.
