Arkansas women fall to Kentucky in SEC tournament opener

Arkansas women’s basketball saw its season come to an end Wednesday afternoon with a 94-64 loss to No. 17 Kentucky in the opening round of the SEC Tournament.

The Razorbacks finished the year 12-20, while the Wildcats improved to 22-9.

Taleyah Jones led Arkansas with 21 points in the final game of her college career.

Kentucky took control early, opening the game with a 29-10 first-quarter advantage while shooting 45 percent from the field. The Wildcats connected on three early three-pointers to build a double-digit lead before the first media timeout.

Arkansas battled back in the second quarter behind Jones, who scored Arkansas’ first four points of the period and helped spark a 7-0 run. The Razorbacks outscored Kentucky 23-13 in the second quarter and shot 50 percent from the field to cut the deficit to 42-33 at halftime.

The Wildcats regained control in the third quarter. Kentucky opened the half with an 18-2 run while Arkansas struggled from the field, missing its first four three-point attempts and several early shots in the quarter. Kentucky extended its lead to 27 points during the period.

The Wildcats maintained their advantage in the fourth quarter, outscoring Arkansas 24-21 and leading by as many as 36 points before closing out the 30-point win.

Jones led the Razorbacks offensively, including going 4-for-4 from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter, while Bonnie Deas and Jada Bates added key baskets earlier in the game.

With the loss, Arkansas concludes its 2025-26 season in the opening round of the SEC Tournament.
