
Mountain Home, looking to reach the state finals for the first time since 1995, took on Nettleton in the Class 5A state semifinals on Saturday night and secured a win of 59-58.The night began with a flurry of threes in the first quarter from both sides as Nettleton would lead 16-12 after the first quarter of action. Mountain Home would have an offensive explosion in the second quarter outscoring the Raiders 26-12, to help regain the lead and stretch it out to 10 points at halftime. Nettleton would not go down without a fight as they would cut the deficit to 50-47 with one quarter remaining. Nettleton would take the lead, and after a Brooklynn Mitchell bucket and a stop on the other end, Mitchell would head to the free throw line and miss two free throws with 14.5 seconds left, giving Nettleton one last chance. After a shot was launched and hit the side of the backboard, Mountain Home’s Laken Anderson would corral the rebound, but her foot would step on the baseline with 0.4 seconds left on the clock. Mountain Home improves to 25-7 and the season and will take on Farmington in the Class 5A State Finals on Saturday, March 14th at 12:00 p.m.
