A Lakeview resident has announced his candidacy for Congress.
Steve Parsons will run for the U.S. House of Representatives in Arkansas’ 1st Congressional District as the Libertarian Party nominee. Parsons received the party’s nomination during its convention held in Little Rock in February and will appear on the November general election ballot.
KTLO News spoke with Parsons who says he entered the race to give voters another option outside the traditional two-party system.

Parsons moved to Lakeview in 2016 with his wife, Dr. Susan Parsons, a retired pathologist.
Parsons holds a Ph.D. in economics and says he previously worked as a consultant with clients around the world.

Parsons said he does not plan to accept campaign donations and, if elected, would donate his congressional salary to charities within the district.
