A Gassville woman facing three counts of rape is scheduled to go on trial in Baxter County Circuit Court/Criminal Division during the week of September 8.
Fifty-six-year-old Alice Alaine Mclean turned herself in at the sheriff’s office on February 22, 2024 after a warrant was issued for her arrest.
She was released from the Baxter County Detention Center in about an hour after posting a $50,000 bond.
Much of the information on the case was made unavailable to the public when the court ordered that the probable cause affidavit and other information be sealed because the contents are sensitive.
The investigation into Mclean began in early 2022 by the Gassville Police Department and the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office.
In various documents that are open to the public Mclean is referred to as a teacher and at one point a teacher who had been suspended.
Rape is a class Y felony, the most serious crime classification in Arkansas not punishable by the death penalty.
There are a number of domestic relations cases involving Mclean on record, including applications for orders of protection.
She is being represented by Mountain Home attorneys Mark Cooper and Emily Reed and Gray Dellinger whose law firm is located in Melbourne.
