Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders is scheduled to appear at the State Capitol Wednesday afternoon alongside Turning Point USA Chairwoman and CEO Erika Kirk for a joint announcement.

The event is set for 1 p.m. at the Arkansas State Capitol. Officials with the governor’s office have not released details about the announcement, but the appearance is expected to draw attention from political leaders and supporters across the state.

The event also brings renewed focus to the legacy of Kirk’s late husband, Charlie Kirk, a nationally known conservative activist who founded one of the nation’s largest student political organizations focused on mobilizing young voters on college campuses.

Charlie Kirk was fatally shot in 2025 during a campus event at Utah Valley University. Authorities said the gunfire occurred during a gathering tied to student political programming. Kirk was transported from the scene but later died from his injuries.

In the weeks following his death, tributes and memorials appeared across the country. In Arkansas, supporters and lawmakers honored Kirk with a memorial exhibit displayed inside the State Capitol highlighting his influence on conservative youth activism and campus politics.

After his death, Erika Kirk assumed a leadership role with Turning Point USA, pledging to continue the organization’s mission and expand its outreach to students nationwide.

Wednesday’s announcement at the Capitol is expected to provide further insight into future initiatives involving the organization and state leadership.
