A West Plains man, and a former candidate for State Representative, has been charged with murder for shooting an intruder who broke into his home in November. Larry Lindeman is facing felony charges of first degree murder and armed criminal action following a grand jury indictment.
According to court records, the charges stem from an incident Nov. 8 when two men, 23-year-old Hayden Levi Hilleman and 32-year-old Keith William Geringer had entered the house with the intent to steal. Geringer told West Plains Police, the two entered through the basement, then went upstairs where Hilleman was shot by Lindeman before they fled the house.
Hilleman collapsed on the street and was later pronounced dead by EMS personnel. Geringer fled the scene before police arrived, but was later apprehended.
Gerigner told police he had been in the house before and Hilleman had been stealing items from the home for several weeks.
Lindeman is free after posting $100,000 bond. His next court appearance is set for March 16.
GERINGER CHARGES

Geringer is facing two felony charges for his part in the break in and shooting. He faces felony charges of second degree murder and first degree burglary. Under Missouri law, an individual may be charged with second degree murder if, during the commission or attempted commission of a felony, or during flight from that felony, another person is killed as a result.
Geringer is being held in the Howell County Jail with bond set at $100,000. He has a jury trial set for Oct. 21.
FAILED RUN FOR STATE REPRESENTATIVE
Lindeman had an unsuccessful run for the Missouri State House of Representatives in 2024. He ran for District 154, but lost in a three-person race in the Republican Primary where he finished a distant third with just under 11% of the vote.
