A Paragould man is being held on a $150,000 cash or surety bond following an alleged attack on a woman who had previously obtained an order of protection against him. A dropped phone led investigators to a Paragould man suspected of assaulting the woman.Paragould police responded to a residence on Pecan Grove around 1:16 a.m. Feb. 28 after receiving a report that a woman had been attacked when she exited her vehicle. During the investigation, officers recovered a cellphone at the scene that had been dropped during the incident. A search warrant later confirmed the phone belonged to the suspect, identified as 44-year-old Delain Washington.
Authorities said the victim had obtained an order of protection against Washington in July. Since being served with the order, Washington has been arrested twice for violating it. The victim has also filed multiple reports since September 2025 alleging additional violations.
A warrant for Washington’s arrest was issued March 4 by Judge Hitt, charged with first-degree stalking and violation of an order of protection and he was taken into custody March 9.
Washington remains in the Greene County Detention Center. If released, he must wear an ankle monitor and have no contact with the victim.
