The Baxter Health Foundation is asking for community support to help purchase a specialized twin baby bassinet for the hospital’s Women and Newborn Care Center. The bassinet, which costs $6,500, is designed to give each baby their own safe sleep space while allowing twins to remain close together. The unit includes individual sleep tubs that meet Safe Sleep Certification standards and help reduce the risk of sudden infant death syndrome while keeping both babies side by side.

Through its “March Gladness” campaign, the foundation is working to raise $3,000 toward the purchase. KTLO New spoke with Sarah Edwards, Executive Director of the Baxter Health Foundation, who explains where the rest of the money will come from.

Hospital officials say the bassinet would provide several benefits for families and staff. The design allows mothers to safely walk the halls while pushing both babies together, helps nurses transport twins more easily when IVs or monitors are needed and saves space in patient rooms while keeping both babies clearly visible during nighttime checks.

The hospital has already welcomed three sets of twins so far in 2026, and officials say the new bassinet would help support many more families in the future.

The Baxter Health Foundation regularly works with donors and community organizations to provide equipment and support services for the hospital. Past fundraising efforts have helped purchase items such as wheelchairs and specialized neonatal equipment.

Community members who would like to support the project can donate online at www.baxterhealth.org/donate-now, by phone at 870-508-1770, or in person at the Baxter Health Foundation office located in the Medical Arts Building at the hospital.
