
The Missouri men’s basketball team will begin postseason play Thursday in the second round of the SEC Tournament, taking on ninth-seeded Kentucky.
Tipoff is scheduled for 11:30, with the game airing on the SEC Network.
Missouri enters the tournament with a 20-11 overall record after finishing tied for seventh in the SEC standings with a 10-8 conference mark. The Tigers earned the No. 8 seed in the tournament bracket.
Senior Mark Mitchell has led Missouri throughout the season, averaging team highs of 17.9 points, 5.2 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game. Mitchell recently earned second-team All-SEC honors from the league’s coaches.
Several Tigers have contributed offensively this season, including Jayden Stone, who is averaging 13.5 points per game, and Trent Pierce at 10.8 points per contest. Anthony Robinson II, T.O. Barrett and Jacob Crews are also averaging at least eight points per game.
Missouri averages 79.9 points per game offensively while allowing 75.3 points per contest.
The Tigers have built a strong postseason résumé, including 10 combined wins against Quad 1 and Quad 2 opponents this season and no losses against Quad 3 or Quad 4 teams.
If Missouri advances past Kentucky, the Tigers will move on to face top-seeded Florida in the quarterfinals Friday at noon. Missouri handed the Gators one of their two SEC losses this season with a 76-74 victory on Jan. 3.
