The Arkansas Office of Outdoor Recreation is now accepting applications for Guide ARK, a new online directory designed to connect visitors with licensed outdoor guides and adventure providers across the state.

According to a release, guides and businesses can apply for free to be included in the online database, which will highlight destinations and experiences throughout the Natural State.

To be eligible, applicants must provide proof of licensing, insurance, safety certifications and business registration.

State tourism officials say the program aims to make it easier for visitors to discover Arkansas’ outdoor opportunities while supporting local businesses.

“From world-record brown trout to mountain bike trails that put Arkansas on the map, this state has outdoor experiences that rival anywhere in the country,” said Shea Lewis, secretary of the Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage and Tourism. “Guide ARK connects visitors to the professionals who know these places best, and that connection is good for adventurers, good for guides, and good for Arkansas.”

Approved applicants will be added to the directory as it launches on the state tourism website, and additional guides may be included even after the initial database goes live. Participants will need to renew their applications each year to remain listed.

Those selected will also receive additional exposure through state travel guides, newsletters, Welcome Centers and State Parks. Guides will also be provided with a digital stamp and decal to promote their participation on websites, social media and at their businesses.

Katherine Andrews, director of the Arkansas Office of Outdoor Recreation, said the program is designed to support the state’s growing outdoor recreation industry.

“Guide ARK is an important step in supporting and promoting Arkansas’ outdoor professionals,” Andrews said. “It makes it easier for people to find high-quality experiences while helping guides build visibility and credibility. This is about growing Arkansas’ outdoor economy in a way that benefits businesses and visitors alike.”
