The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation says a man wanted in connection with the shooting of a Memphis police officer may have fled the state and could be in Arkansas or several other states.

Authorities are searching for 40-year-old Danell Maxwell, who is wanted on charges of attempted first-degree murder, aggravated assault and employment of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony.

Investigators say the charges stem from the Feb. 26 shooting of Memphis Police Officer Oscar Torres-Molina.

According to reports from Memphis television station WREG, it has been two weeks since the manhunt for Maxwell began. Officer Torres-Molina has since been released from the hospital.

TBI officials believe Maxwell may have left Tennessee and could be in Arkansas, Louisiana, Georgia or Iowa.

Authorities describe Maxwell as standing about 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing approximately 180 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. Investigators say he should be considered armed and dangerous.

A reward of up to $32,500 is being offered for information that leads to Maxwell’s arrest.

Anyone who sees Maxwell or has information about his whereabouts is asked to contact the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation at 1-800-TBI-FIND.
