One of Mountain Home’s signature outdoor events is set to return later this month as the 29th annual Sowbug Roundup comes to the Baxter County Fairgrounds.

The event will be held March 26, 27 and 28 from 9 to 4 each day and is designed for everyone from experienced fly fishers to beginners who simply want to learn more about the sport.

KTLO News spoke with Jon Streu, Chairman of the Sowbug Planning Commission, who says the Sowbug Roundup will feature a little something for everyone.

The Sowbug Roundup has grown into a major regional attraction over the years, drawing visitors from across the country and even overseas. Organizers say people from 36 states have attended in the past, along with visitors from countries including England, Italy and Japan.

Admission is $10, and children ages 15 and under get in free with an adult. Organizers say the event is especially family-friendly, with youth activities and giveaways planned for Saturday morning.

Food will again be provided by the Clarkridge Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary, and organizers say the event offers a welcoming atmosphere for anyone curious about trying fly fishing for the first time.

In addition to the Sowbug Roundup itself, organizers say local artist Duane Hada is expected to unveil a new mural in Bull Shoals around the same time as the event.
