
Two elderly Mountain Home residents were seriously injured in a four-vehicle crash near Ava Saturday morning. The 86-year-old male driver, and an 85-year-old female passenger in the vehicle, were both transported by ambulance to Cox Medical Center South in Springfield with what the Missouri State Highway Patrol described as serious injuries.
The patrol does not release the names of those involved in motor vehicle or boating accidents.
According to the report, the accident happened when the vehicle driven by the Mountain Home man crossed the center line of the highway and hit the tire of a piece of farm equipment, before striking another vehicle head-on. A third vehicle rear-ended the vehicle that was struck by the vehicle hit by the Mountain Home couple.
The driver of the vehicle that was struck head-on was also seriously injured and taken to Cox South.
The crash happened on Missouri State Highway K, three miles north of Ava at 8:30 Saturday morning.
