A Eureka Springs city councilman has been arrested on charges stemming from two separate incidents last summer, according to the Arkansas State Police.

Special Agents with the ASP Criminal Investigation Division arrested 76-year-old Harold Frederick Meyer on March 13. Meyer, who serves on the Eureka Springs City Council, is charged with first-degree criminal mischief and aggravated assault.

According to authorities, the first incident occurred June 3, 2025, when the Eureka Springs Police Department requested assistance from state police after Meyer allegedly damaged personal property during a community event at a city park. The investigation resulted in a felony charge of first-degree criminal mischief.

A second investigation was requested July 14, 2025, involving Meyer’s role in a physical altercation with a neighbor. At the conclusion of that investigation, Meyer was charged with aggravated assault.

Meyer was taken into custody by state police agents, processed at the Carroll County Detention Center and later released on his own recognizance.
