Ozark County man arrested after driving into group of people, hitting one

An Ozark County man has been arrested after driving into a group of people in the early morning hours Saturday morning, hitting one man and sending him to the hospital. Hunter Ray Warren of Dora is facing five charges, three of them felonies, for the incident.According to the probable cause affidavit from the Ozark County Sheriff’s Office, a group was having a bonfire when Warren showed up and was upset about an ex-girlfriend. He was told to leave and did.

He came back shortly before 4:00 AM with his headlights off and four males heard his engine revving. As Warren drove towards the group, three of them were able to get out of the way, but one was not and he was struck by the vehicle. He was transported to Baxter Health by ambulance.

Warren fled the scene, but was located a short time later at his parent’s residence where he lives. Deputies noted the smell of alcohol was emitting from Warren and his eyes were blood shot. During questioning, Warren admitted to drinking and going to the residence the first time but denied the anything else happened.

The victim suffered a suspected concussion, possible foot fracture and multiple contusions.

Warren is facing felony charges of armed criminal action, first degree assault and leaving the scene of an accident involving physical injury along with misdemeanor charges of operating a motor vehicle in a careless and imprudent manner involving an accident and operating a vehicle on a highway without a valid license – first offense. He is being held in the Ozark County Jail without bond pending his first court appearance.
