A Texas man, formerly from Marion County, has been arrested for the sexual assault of a 13-year-old girl in 2013. Forty-year-old Cody Clinton Dennis of Silsbee was arrested in Hardin County, Texas and extradited back to Marion County where he was booked into the jail Tuesday.
According to court documents in the case, the victim, who is now 26-years-old, reported the incident happened when she was 13-years old and Dennis was 28.
Records from Texas show Dennis testified under oath last November during a divorce hearing he had a sexual relationship with the victim.
Dennis is a registered sex offender and never notified the Marion County Sheriff’s Office about his move to Texas.
Dennis is facing two counts of fourth degree sexual assault, two counts of sexual indecency with a minor and one count of failure to comply with registration and reporting requirements, all felonies. He also faces a penalty enhancement for being a habitual offender. Dennis is free after posting $100,000 bond.
PREVIOUS ARRESTS
Dennis has two previous arrests in Arkansas, one in Boone County and one in Searcy County, both for failing to comply with sex offender reporting requirements. He received three years of probation for the incidents which happened in 2010.
