ASUMH drops high-scoring matchup to Northeastern Oklahoma AM

The Arkansas State University-Mountain Home Trailblazers couldn’t keep pace with Northeastern Oklahoma A&M on Tuesday, falling 22-4 at home.

Northeastern Oklahoma A&M set the tone early, scoring four runs in the first inning and adding eight more in the second to build a commanding lead. The visitors broke the game open again in the sixth, plating 10 runs to put the contest out of reach.

ASUMH’s offense was highlighted by a two-run home run from JD Hertzog in the third inning. Hertzog finished with two RBIs, while Ty Watkins, Christian Loera, Jett Hannaford and Chase Plowman each added a hit.

Nick Fincher took the loss on the mound for the Trailblazers, allowing 12 runs in just over an inning of work.

Northeastern Oklahoma A&M racked up 16 hits and drew 12 walks in the game, consistently applying pressure at the plate.

With the loss, ASUMH falls to 3-22 on the season.

The Trailblazers will look to bounce back Friday when they face SAU Tech.
